The Blood Pheasant (Ithaginis cruentus) is the only species in genus Ithaginis of the pheasant family.
Raptors such as black eagle, black-winged kite and kestrels; and pheasants such as monals and blood pheasant are also found.
The forests provide habitat to at least 118 species of birds, including Himalayan Monal, Blood pheasant, Red-billed chough, and yellow-billed chough.
Other birds seen often include the Himalayan Snowcock, Chukar Partridge, Himalayan Monal, Kalij Pheasant and Blood Pheasant.
Blood pheasants live in the mountains of Nepal, Sikkim, northern Myanmar, Tibet, and central and south-central China, where they prefer coniferous or mixed forests and scrub areas near the snowline.
