In children, hypervitaminosis A can cause craniotabes (abnormal softening of the skull bones).

Craniotabes (soft skull)

Any condition that affects bone growth, most notably rickets (vitamin D deficiency), marasmus, syphilis, or thalassemia present during a time of rapid skull growth can cause craniotabes.
