Erythrasma is a skin disease that causes brown, scaly skin patches.

Wood's light is useful in diagnosing conditions such as tuberous sclerosis and erythrasma.

However, a simple side-room investigation with a Wood's lamp is additionally useful in diagnosing erythrasma.

C. minutissimum causes erythrasma.

Corynebacterium minutissimum is a species of Corynebacterium associated with erythrasma, a type of skin rash.

Erythrasma is treated with topical fusidic acid, or systemic macrolides(erythromycin or azithromycin).

The patches of erythrasma are initially pink, but progress quickly to become brown and scaly (as skin starts to shed), which are classically sharply demarcated.

It can also be used to diagnose ringworm, fungal infections, corneal scratches, foreign bodies in the eye, blocked tear ducts, acne, erythrasma, tinea versicolor, microsporum canis, scabies, alopecia, porphyria, bacterial infections, and many other skin conditions.
